Our goal is to create an environment for children to learn, and to empower them with education and economic opportunities.
The children we work with have difficulty learning and sometimes need special attention. Our projects help them and provide the extra support they need. We have experienced teachers from Private schools visit our centres to help children with subjects such as Math and Science.
At the start of the year, and half-way through, we provide children with new school uniform, shoes, bags, water bottles, stationary and books. So that they have everything they need to feel equipped and ready to learn.
A lack of interest from many parents, along with a lack of study materials, means that students often drop-out of school by the age of 13 and 14. CAL supports children who face this situation and gets them back to school.
One method we use is talking to parents to raise awareness about the importance of education. We are already seeing children re-admitted into school.
We help children who have been abused and neglected by providing them with counselling, rehabilitation and inner healing.
We are setting up a scholarship scheme to encourage further education. So that children can complete their A-Levels, or even go to University.
Children who show good academic performance in school can bring their reports to the centre and apply for a scholarship.
